A penny for your thoughts?

I was talking with my sister the other day and she shared with me that she’s on the brink of becoming an entrepreneur. I was super excited for her because we’ve both discussed entrepreneurship extensively and here she was making it happen (go sis!). Since entrepreneurship intrigues me, I told her to spill it. I wanted to know everything from start to finish about her new business.

Sis was a little hesitant at first, but eventually she shared that she plans to develop all natural products that will assist people with different ailments. The ailments would range from dry skin to eczema, allergic reactions and more. I was also impressed when she told me that she’s currently taking orders from her co-workers that have sampled her products. So I asked her, “how much do you sell them for?” She told me “right now they’re free because I’m just getting started.”

Did she just say free?

It’s not you, it’s your brand

I was scrolling through my Facebook timeline and I came across a post by Natalie Gouche’, a social media trainer and mogul mom (love that title). She shared how she recently met with a woman who wanted to build a global brand but didn’t own her first and last name as a dot com. Unfortunately for her, someone else had already snatched it up. This got me to thinking.

How many of us are losing out on opportunities because we don’t own our brand?
